Big Moves ahead for 2008!
Essential Learnings and Standards
From 2008 the Essential Learnings in all Key Learning Areas (English, Mathematics, Science, Studies of Society and Environment, Health and Physical Education, The Arts, Technology and Languages) become the core of the revised Education Queensland syllabuses.
Teachers at Dayboro State School will continue their cooperative planning in year levels to develop exciting and challenging integrated units of work based on the Essential Learnings that students must demonstrate by the end of Year 3, Year 5 and Year 7.
Standards of student achievement which accompany the Essential Learnings will greatly enhance teachers’ skills in assessment and reporting and facilitate consistency and comparability across Queensland.
Teachers at Dayboro State School will participate in workshops in Literacy during 2008 (the Years 1-3 teachers in Term 1) to further enhance their already considerable skills in this important teaching and learning area.
The Curriculum Team will focus on developing our School Literacy Strategy and revising our School Curriculum Plan as well as monitoring the implementation of our new Mathematics Program 1-7. This will accompany our support of new school programs in Spelling and Phonemic Awareness.
You are very welcome to visit our Foyer Display in the Administration Building to view details of our wonderful units of work for Term 1. They can also be viewed on this website. Further information can be obtained from Linda Smith at the school or by visiting the Queensland Studies Authority website.
We are all looking forward to an exciting and challenging year. Till the next update,
Happy Learning!
Linda Smith (Curriculum Coordinator)
